Announcing the WJUC Logo

WJUC 2024 Event logo

We’re excited to announce the WJUC event logo. We have worked closely with the designers at VC Ultimate to create something special that embodies the event and the location.

JRR Tolkien, who famously wrote The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, grew up in Birmingham, UK. The surrounding countryside inspired the epic world he created and we wanted to embody this within the logo. The disc, shown in profile, echoes the ‘one ring’ and the stars around the bottom are the 7 stars of Gondor. Perhaps a slightly geeky reference, but we LOVE that fact that our tournament is set in the location Tolkien used to inspire his story and we hope you like the subtle nods to this in the logo!

The beautifully crafted numbers are inspired by the cladding around the Library of Birmingham, you might spot it while you’re in the city - this is one of the biggest public libraries in Europe.

The abstract shape in the C of WJUC represents a bull, which has come to be a well-known symbol of the city of Birmingham, associated with ‘The Bull Ring’ - you cannot miss this building which houses a large shopping centre.

There is one final hidden message that we’ll leave for you to find.
